Sheepshead Canoe Club was organized back in 1930 by a group of canoe sailors who sailed on Sheepshead Bay in New York. Today it remains a club of dedicated canoe sailors who sail Cruising Class, C Class and ACA class races. The club maintains a cabin at the ACA Atlantic Division Camp on Lake Sebago, NY. Members continue the tradition of canoe sailing, both for recreation and in competition. To encourage people interested in canoe sailing, the club sponsors both instructional clinics and “free sails” at Lake Sebago during the summer, where people can actually try canoes rigged with several different types of sails. Come try it – you’ll like it!
